Team Global Express (TGE), formerly known as TOLL Logistics Company, stands as the third largest player in Australia's logistics industry. With a heritage tracing back to 1888, TGE has evolved into a leading logistics solutions provider, employing over 8,500 people and collaborating with more than 5,000 delivery partners across Australia and New Zealand.

TGE processes approximately 10,000 pickup and delivery orders daily from its warehouse in NSW/Sydney alone. The company operates a vast multimodal network, including road, rail, sea, and air transport, ensuring unparalleled reach and speed in the region.

Challenges

Before implementing the 1C:Enterprise-based solution by IronLogic company, TGE relied on a custom-built web-based application to manage all transportation orders. While this system initially met the company’s needs, it struggled to accommodate the increased volume of orders and data streams as the business expanded. The semi-manual processes required for data entry and route planning became increasingly time-consuming and error-prone, leading to inefficiencies in scheduling and resource allocation.

These issues underscored the need for a more robust, automated solution capable of handling the company’s growing logistical demands. The implementation of the 1C:Enterprise platform addressed these challenges by centralizing and streamlining operations, reducing manual workloads, and significantly enhancing overall productivity.

What was done

Integration and customization: The 1C:Enterprise BSP configuration was used to ensure seamless data processing and operational efficiency. The customizations included the logistics module to automate the distribution of freight to drivers daily.
Automatic data import via FTP: To handle the increased volume of orders, an automatic import process was implemented, allowing transportation orders to be directly imported into the 1C:Enterprise via an FTP connection.
Optimization of resource allocation: The system was set up to automatically distribute freight based on real-time data, optimizing driver schedules and resource allocation across all operations.
Enhanced schedule and route calculations: the application was configured to perform more precise scheduling and route calculations, incorporating various factors such as order timeframes, vehicle constraints, and geographic data.
